Jane Goodall

When I was in grade 6 the two greatest people on earth were Tarzan and Jane Goodall (besides Walt Disney of course!), needless to say I was a little bit obsessed with apes. Here's a quick painting of Dr. Goodall as a I'm taking a teeny weeny break from my film :)

My last life drawing portfolio (ever!) from Sheridan was due this week!
I don't have too much to post because I always forget to scan my drawings.
But here's one! Only the two ladies on the left were based on life drawing.

Critiques are appreciated!

Doodles

Sometimes I do daily outfit / mood doodles but I don't post them because I'm almost always in jeans and a tshirt :P It's really relaxing to do though!

When you draw a lot of strawberries they start to stare back at you.

Thank you!

I just wanted to say a sincere thank you to Eyassu and Christine who made these wonderful things for my birthday a few weeks back, they're absolutely wonderful. Please check out their work!

Eyassu made this awesome GIF of me.
I'm known to squat and I'm eating bread because in real life I don't like to eat
the buns in my Swiss Chalet meals.

Christine made these for me because I like Snow White lots!
She is in first year animation and her character designs are really cute!
Please check out her work as well :)

Film Progress

Two (somewhat finished) backgrounds from my thesis film

And below is a little drawing I did of my beautiful mother a while back.
You can definitely see her influence on my film's character design!

Mom if you're reading this, you're amazing and I miss you!

Also 2 quickies for my life drawing portfolio due Monday D:

Feedback is appreciated :)

Thanks!

A new design for Melly, and a rough animation test of her, both from today.

Any critique / advice is greatly appreciated, especially in animation. Thanks in advance :)

Sketchbook

Just a sketchbook post :)

I was kinda thinking about this cranky New York family

Melly sketches from last week's life drawing class
Hairspray fan art, a zombie general inspired by Natan, and my sketches of Seema's film character!
My friend Seema was kind enough to let me me post these doodles I did of her character.
Her designs are truely inspirational, please check them out!

Zoo sketches
I went to the zoo with my best friend on Saturday, I had a sleepy drawing day, but he got some amazing drawings! I hope posts them soon. Please check out his blog!
The cutest peacock troop walked by the window while we were eating lunch. I'd never seen baby peacocks before ... they look like weird little bald chicken quails SO CUTE!
Birdie (Mastercopy, kinda)
Growing up, I always had this big book of beautiful, incredibly intricate bird watercolours. I used to paint from it when I was in elementary school. I'm not really sure the book is now or who the artist is, but my mom found some photocopies of the pages yesterday. I painted one just for fun. The original looks 1000 times better than mine though, if I find out who the artist is I will definitely link them here. I'm practicing painting without laying down pencil first.
A Calvin Klein model, and Eyassu
Just painting for fun lately ... instead of working on my film haha.

Mom and Melly

I tried a rounder version of Melly today and it turned out way too preschool for my liking.
But I think I like the shape of these new ones better! (below)

These are some random doodles I found on my USB today.
I did them on a break when I was interning at Chuck Gammage.
I'm just noticing that I use a lot of purple haha.
Good night all! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Film Progress

PSST! Here's a peek at my thesis film :)

I hope this leica makes sense!
Maybe it will only make sense to those who have seen my earlier leicas.
Lots of v/o is missing (thus the awkward pauses).

Early character sketches of Melly from week 2 (Secretly, her name is Smelly)

Quick monster doodles.
I think I like the 2 purple ones and the sad blue one in the bottom left the most.
What do you think?

End credits design. It will be an upwards pan.

Birthdays!

Happy belated birthday to two of the book-iest (and smartest) people I know, Seema and Eyassu!

Purple Hair

Soooo ... I've been pretty lousy with making art in the past month ...
Life's been an interesting mess of shenanigans.

Time for an update!

At my internship at Chuck Gammage Animation (sadly it's over!) I got to do some inbetweening for a Frootloops commercial with Jen, it was tons of fun and I learned lots! Tracy and I worked on some animation clean up and colouring on a super top secret studio project :D Please check out the work of these  SUPER talented (and super beautiful!) ladies. It was a blast working with them.

I went on a trip to Washington DC with my fam to visit the Smithsonian Institute! I saw lots of cool art, cool space things, cool historical / cultural things, cool animals and stuff :) If you haven't already made a trip dedicated to visiting DC's wicked museums I would highly recommend it. There is so much to see and learn from. I will post my sketches once I find a scanner.

I've also moved a million times in the month of August, but as of this weekend I will have a new home :)

I'd also been doing lots of designs for Sheridan College. I'm happy to announce that the new official logos for Health Services and Counselling Services are up! Logo-making was definitely a very cool and challenging experience. In addition to the logos, I'm also working with a bunch of other animation and design students to get our posters and pamphlets going.

School starts in 3 days, so I'm just picking up film development again :)
My friends have been generous with their ideas and input!

This was just a random doodle from today that started out as my film character, but is now no longer.

Enjoy the last days of summer everyone!

A portrait of my grandpa as a gift.

I should start signing my art more regularly! :)

Any critique / comments appreciated.

Night Owl

Just a goofy post! I wanted to draw a tree full of owls, but some owl photos creeped me out. So I drew one :)

My Fam

Heehee <3 I have the best parents.
And ... it wasn't a swimsuit. It was a real outfit.

I'm drawing funny because I went sketching with Noam, he's weird.

Study

Tracy always does these amaaaazing speed paintings on breaks at Chuck Gammage Anim, so I wanted to give it try today.

I've also never tried colouring a grayscale painting before ... it's interesting.

.

So I realized halfway through painting that this was a photo of Emeli Sandé. :)
Please also check Anita's blog, she's one of the best protrait artists I've ever met.

Critiques / help is appreciated!
