Animals

I'm not at all the greatest life drawer, and even worse at drawing animals ... so when I do get drawings that are half decent I get all giddy :P

I'm starting to feel more comfortable with drawing animals lately ... these are some of my sketches from 2 recent trips to the zoo. There was a page of gestures that I was pretty proud of but no longer have :'(

The best thing about cold zoo days is that the rhino is inside ... warm and upclose!

Red river hog ... I call it the kiwi pig

These are soooo much fun to do! Tiny watercolour kit + watercolour pencils + a tiny water brush + a teeny tiny watercolour sketchbook.

He's one of my favourites to draw.

See how cute / kiwi-like?

He decided to roll over 3 minutes after I got there ... lol

Enjoy and please critique!

Mrs. Beets' House

Remember old Mrs. Beets? I got to design her Victorian house in layout class, it was soooo much fun to research and draw!

For me, layout seems to be one of those things that comes naturally one minute, and gives me hell the next. So I never quite know what to expect as to how long it will take me to do, and how well it will turn out. But I have to say, I think this is the first time that I've actually been happy with my layout for a long while.

Hope y'all like it :)
Critiques are always welcome.

More Baby Monkeys

This is my process for the little baby monkey i used in my muzzle sync animation :) I'm having a really hard time with drawing animals ... I need so much more practice! But in the end I liked how the design turned out, and I will be cleaning it up for my clean up assignment I'm REALLY excited about that :)

My initial design in my sketchbook

The amazing Pete Emslie helped me with the design and posing.
I'm so amazed at how much cuter she is now! This is the design I went with when animating.

I tried to paint her over reading week.
But she's really off model and I really don't like how this turned out
... but it was fun to do.
Maybe I'll try again some time. :)

Critiques are welcome! Enjoy :)

... you will find my finished character design assignment.

This assignment surprisingly took a really long time, but it's finished! I really wish I had more time to spend on exploring better poses and expressions, but this will have to do for now. :)

Enjoy! Critiques are welcome :)
